Invisalign Braces

Invisalign is an orthodontic procedure that straightens the teeth without using metal, typically used in braces. The Invisalign braces are transparent and removable and are less evident as compared to the traditional braces. Invisalign is a series of custom-made, clear braces that cover your mouth and gently pull them into position over a period of time.

Who is Invisalign Treatment for?

This treatment offers an excellent solution for both teens and adults looking for options to improve their smile. Invisalign clear braces give you an alternative to enhance your smile without going through the traditional metal braces method, which is both painful and complicated. It is an effective and discreet method to acquire a perfectly aligned set of teeth.

What is Invisalign made from?

Invisalign clear aligners are made from BPA-free plastic, and they are far more comfortable than traditional metal braces. These customized clear aligners not only straighten your teeth but also give you a perfect smile.

What are the advantages of Invisalign Braces?

There are several benefits from wearing Invisalign braces as compared to the traditional metal braces.

  • Clear aligners are aesthetically pleasing, as they are nearly invisible. It can be a preferred choice, especially if you do not want metal in your mouth.
  • They are removable. As far as clear aligners are concerned, they can be removed at any time to eat and enjoy your meal.
  • You can practice good oral hygiene and feel comfortable while changes are happening in your teeth's alignment.
  • Invisalign braces are more comfortable to wear as compared to traditional metal braces. Traditional braces can scar your cheeks and make you feel raw. So, Invisalign braces can be preferred to painful metal braces.
  • This procedure needs fewer visits to your orthodontist. Traditional braces require frequent dental visits as you need to get your wires to get tightened every six weeks.
  • Teeth cleaning is more comfortable with Invisalign braces than traditional metal ones, as you can simply remove them and practice good oral hygiene.

How long does this treatment take?

The duration of this treatment will vary based on the age and specific needs of each person. The average treatment time is one year as every case is very different. The time needed for the entire treatment course can be estimated once your teeth are examined and digital images are captured.

What is the cost of these braces?

The cost of Invisalign braces varies from patient to patient based on many factors like the severity of your teeth's misalignment and how long it will take to move them to the correct position. The treatment cost can be calculated once the teeth are examined, the x-rays taken, and the 3D model is prepared.

What happens after Invisalign treatment is completed?

After the Invisalign procedure is completed, you should wear a retainer. A retainer will keep your teeth in alignment, or else your teeth can gradually move back to their former position. The retainer can be decided based on individual needs.

Preventive Dentistry

Preventive dentistry involves treatment and oral practices to promote dental health. It also protects you from dental diseases like decay or gum disease. Preventive dentistry can be followed by adopting healthy oral practices in your daily life. It will be highly beneficial if a patient consults their hygienist once every six months for good oral health.

People who smoke or have diabetes should go in for more frequent consultations with their hygienists.

Why do you need Preventive Dentistry Services?

Preventive Dentistry Services can help you seek early treatment for your dental problems before any complications arise. Everyone, including children and seniors, needs preventive dentistry services.

How do Preventive Dentistry Services benefit your dental health?

Preventive dentistry can benefit your dental health in various ways:

  • It helps to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth loss. Regular check-ups with your hygienist will help detect any decay and get treated on time.
  • It will promote healthy oral hygiene habits.
  • The cost and time of treatment will be minimized.
  • It will be beneficial for your overall health.
  • There will be a significant reduction in dental problems associated with eating disorders, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
  • It can help in the prevention and diagnosis of oral cancer.

What is Oral Hygiene?

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping your mouth clean and free of diseases. Oral hygiene is the everyday side of dentistry. Follow these tips to maintain oral hygiene.

  • Regular appointments with your hygienist.
  • Brush your teeth twice a day.
  • Use a standard mouth wash.
  • Drink more water for your overall dental health.
  • Floss your teeth, especially under dental bridges.
  • The removable dentures should be kept in cleaning solutions.
  • Acidic fruits, teas, and coffee can wear down tooth enamel. The intake of sugary snacks should be limited.

What is Preventive Dental Care?

Preventive dental services include routine oral examinations, X-rays, cleaning, and fluoride treatments. A standard appointment with the hygienist consists of benefits like:

  • Periodontal disease screening and oral cancer exam.
  • General examination and cleaning with a dental hygienist aimed at identifying and stopping early dental issues.
  • X-rays to check dental restoration and overall dental health.

What oral care products should you use?

Adults should use a toothbrush with a small to medium-sized head and soft to medium bristles. There is specially made toothpaste to help with plaque and gum disease for people with sensitive teeth. There are different types of mouthwashes consisting of anti-bacterial ingredients. All these products go a long way in maintaining the overall health of your mouth.

Several tests have revealed that electric toothbrushes with an oscillating rotating action are better than manual toothbrushes at removing plaque. Different brands of whitening toothpaste are readily available in the market.

If you are not sure what type of toothpaste to use for your teeth, you can consult with our hygienist for proper guidance.

Cosmetic Dentistry

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is more than just appearances. It is a useful solution to fix problems related to teeth like discoloration, missing or misaligned teeth, etc. Many patients undergo cosmetic dentistry to improve their smile and appearance. Besides enhancing an individual's appearance, cosmetic dentistry can also help replace lost or damaged teeth, prevent bone loss, or improve chewing function. Any routine carried out beyond the regular maintenance or medically necessary operations would probably come under cosmetic dentistry.

Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic dentistry options. It is a simple, inexpensive, and non-invasive procedure available in cosmetic dentistry for improving your smile. There are two main professional whitening options: in-office and at-home. The in-office procedure results are more instant –great for weddings, public appearances, or to get a quick dazzling smile. The at-home kits are designed to provide improvement through gradual applications at home.

Veneers

Veneers are used to reshape and repair teeth from chips, fractures, or discolorations. A mask is a thin shell made out of porcelain, composite or ceramic, which is created to match the surrounding teeth. They last longer, but each type has a different level of durability. Generally, veneers are recommended for teeth with healthy root systems that need improvement for appearance's sake. It is a relatively quick and straightforward solution for enhancing your smile.

Dental Implants

If you have one or more missing teeth, a dental implant could be an effective solution for you. This procedure is beneficial and long-lasting, without affecting the surrounding teeth. Dental implants are the most permanent form of tooth replacement. They consist of two parts: the post and the dental crown. The center represents the root and binds naturally to your jaw. The crown is the upper part usually designed to match the surrounding teeth. Implants look completely natural and help restore the normal functions of a tooth. Implants are easy to take care of, with regular dental examinations.

How long do these procedures last?

Implants typically last longer, at least for 25 years, with proper care and annual visits to your hygienist. They are designed to last for the whole lifetime of the patient. On the other hand, veneers need a refresh every 6 to 10 years.

Can multiple implants be done at once?

The overall health of the patient is the deciding factor in undergoing multiple implants. Usually, patients prefer to get numerous implants done in one appointment as it also reduces the cost of consulting the hygienist.

How fast do implants heal?

The implants heal very fast, ranging for a day or two. It is generally advised to avoid chewy food for a few weeks to let the implants heal faster. There is minimal discomfort for the patient.

Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are small implants that do not need to be completely inserted into your jawbone. Mini dental implants have two parts comprising a titanium post and a socket with a rubber O-ring that attaches the tooth to the post. A mini implant measures about 1.8 to 3.3mm in diameter and 10 to 15mm long.

What are Mini Dental Implants?

A mini dental implant is a small artificial root that is compatible with your body and smile. Similar to other implants, these are of smaller diameter versions made from titanium. Generally, titanium is the preferred choice of material for the mini implants as it is well accepted by the body and its ability to fuse to the bone.

Mini Dental Implants are less expensive compared to other treatments. It can be used in cases where the ridge is too narrow for full-sized dental implants. The small dimensions of mini implants give more flexibility when there is a significant amount of bone loss. They also can be fixed immediately.

How long do mini dental implants last?

Mini dental implants last the same amount of time as traditional implants in the right patient. With good oral hygiene, the mini dental implants can last the lifespan of the patient.

How is the procedure for a mini dental implant done?

The mini dental implant is a relatively simple procedure performed under local anesthetic. It is a painless procedure when compared to pulling out your tooth. It is a minimally invasive surgical technique that is done under controlled conditions. The implants' heads protrude from the gum tissue and provide a strong, solid foundation for securing your dentures. There is less discomfort during this procedure that lasts for about 48 hours. Most patients can eat a couple of hours after the surgery.

What is the MDI Denture Stabilization System?

The MDI System comprises a small titanium alloy implant that serves as the root and a retaining fixture fused into your denture base. The implant's head is shaped like a ball, and the retaining fixture acts like a socket with a rubber O-ring—the O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture firmly in place. When installed, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue. It is a simple procedure that can be conducted in less than 2 hours under general anesthesia. The healing period of this system will be quicker than the traditional implants.

How do you maintain mini dental implants?

  • The mini dental implants must be cleaned and brushed as you do normally with your natural teeth. You should thoroughly brush under and around the implant crown.
  • Clean at least twice a day with a soft-bristle toothbrush.
  • You should thoroughly brush under and around the implant crown.
  • Brush your teeth with a nylon-coated interdental brush to clean hard-to-reach places.
  • Floss daily with waxed tape or implant-specific floss.
  • Similar to natural teeth, food and bacterial remains must be removed after every meal. If not removed, the plaque will cause inflammation of the gums leading to bleeding.
  • Ultrasonic cleaners containing 50-50 peroxide solution is ideal for ensuring that the retaining fixtures remain free from bacterial infections.
  • Regular check-ups with your hygienist should be ensured.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are the best and most reliable replacement for missing teeth. The multiple advantages that they offer put them ahead of their nearest alternatives, such as dental bridges, dentures, etc.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are natural-looking tooth replacements that fill in the gaps caused by the missing tooth. Dental implants comprise metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once the implants are in place, they allow the dentist to fix the replacement teeth onto them.

Why would you need Dental Implants?

Dental implants provide you with the following advantages:

  • The ability of a person to chew and bite will be restored to normal with the help of an implant.
  • The phonetics of a person, which was affected due to a missing tooth, will also be restored to normal.
  • They are strong, sturdy, and last longer. A number of dentists say that a dental implant would last for over ten years with proper care.

Types of Dental Implants:

Dental implants are of three main types. They can be chosen based on the health of your jawbone and specific needs; your dental implant dentist may suggest the right kind of implant for you.

Immediate Load Dental Implants:These kinds of implants allow temporary replacement of the tooth during your first appointment with your dentist. This may be a good option if you have enough natural bone to secure the implant for immediate placement.

Mini dental implants: This type of implant is recommended for certain jaw structures for patients with bone loss. At the same time, these kinds of implants are economical and affordable. They are placed through less-invasive techniques and are used primarily to stabilize a lower denture.

Fixed bridges: This type is ideal for multiple missing teeth. This procedure involves using both healthy teeth and artificial anchors as abutments. It is also economical, with fewer fixtures necessary in major replacements.

What is the cost of Dental Implants?

The cost of the implants is based on various factors like the number of teeth’s to be replaced. It also depends mainly on the technique and the type of material used for the crown.

What is the procedure for fixing the dental implants?

The first step in fixing dental implants would be removing the problematic teeth. After that, you get a fixture installed and a temporary crown. Once the fixture heals, you get a custom crown to get the smile you desire.

Do implants hurt?

No, typically, the dental implants do not hurt. Fixing an implant is a lot easier than removing a tooth out. The discomfort usually lasts for a week or so after the installation of the implant. The implants begin to feel like normal teeth once the implants heal and bind to the jawbone.

What about the aftercare of the implanted teeth

It is very important to care for the implants properly for them to last long. The cleaning of the teeth attached to the implants is as simple as cleaning the natural teeth. However, you may need to visit your hygienist for regular check-ups.

All on 4

The term All-on 4 refers to all the teeth supported on four dental implants. It is a surgical technique for treating a patient with badly broken teeth, decayed teeth, or teeth affected by gum disease. The All-on 4 option gives the option of replacing all the teeth of an arch.

Why should you opt for All-on 4 procedures?

The loss of a tooth is prevalent as we age. The use of dentures is not a comfortable solution. Rather than living with the discomfort and hassles of dentures, many patients opt for an ‘All on 4’ procedure. In this procedure, one full arch of teeth is constructed with four dental implants.

Dental implants are natural-looking tooth replacements that fill in the gaps caused by the missing tooth—dental implants are comprised of metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once in place, they allow the dentist to fix the replacement teeth onto them. The difference in All-on four is that you do not need a dental implant for every individual missing tooth. All that is required is four precisely placed implants on the top of your mouth and four on the bottom to restore your smile. Since these implants are made of titanium, it has the unique ability to fuse with the bone and function as part of it.

What are the benefits of All- On- Four options?

  • This kind of implant helps you to maintain a youthful look with a pleasant smile.
  • It allows you to keep better oral health.
  • The dental implants become a part of the jawbone and thus serve as a strong foundation for the new teeth.
  • Besides becoming fused with the jaw bone, these implants prevent further bone loss in the jaw.

How long does the procedure take?

The most fantastic aspect of this procedure is that it can be done in one day with proper planning.

With the right expertise, a patient need not have to wear dentures for the missing teeth. The All-on -4 approach works best for patients who have lost teeth or have issues that cannot be fixed easily. The dental implants are surgically repaired while the patient is fully sedated. But the procedure is only temporary as the dental implants have to undergo a process of integrating with the bone. After the integration is completed in about 4-6 months, the actual process of replacing the temporary teeth with a permanent set of teeth will happen.

How long do All-On-Four implants last?

The All-On-Four implants last for 20 years or longer with the right care. They have proven to stand the test of time. Regular check-ups should be followed up with the dentist. The implant post may not need to be replaced, but your denture will experience daily wear and tear.

Dental Crowns And Bridges

Dental crowns are used as caps on a broken or missing tooth to protect the life of your teeth. Additionally, Dental crowns and bridges give the tooth the strength, shape, and size to improve your tooth's general look. If your hygienist advises you to get a crown, then get it done as early as possible as delaying the process can cause irreparable damage to your leaving you with no option but getting it extracted.

What is a Dental Crown or Bridge?

Dental Crowns are a tooth-shaped cap placed on the tooth to restore the size, shape, and appearance of the tooth. Dental crowns also augment the strength of the tooth. The function of the tooth becomes regular with the placement of the crown. A bridge replaces more than one missing teeth. Dental Bridges are bonded to the teeth or as implant fixtures.

When is a Dental Crown or Bridge needed?

Dental Crowns and Bridges are required for the following cases:

  • To protect or restore a broken tooth caused due to an accident or trauma.
  • To replace a tooth that cannot be filled if the gap is too large.
  • The crowns can serve as a cap to the implants.
  • Crowns can also be used to cover discolored, misshaped, or poorly shaped teeth.
  • In cases where root canal therapy is performed over a tooth, crowns are a must.

What is the procedure for Crowns and Bridges?

The procedure for crowns or bridges first begins with a consultation with your hygienist. The hygienist will reshape the existing tooth so that the dental crown will fit over it. A dental impression of your teeth is then taken and sent to the dental lab to have the crown made. The crown can be made from metals of your choice like gold, acrylic, ceramic, or porcelain. Lastly, the crown is fixed to the reshaped tooth.

What is the cost of the crowns and bridges?

Crowns and Bridges are the best and most affordable way to replace missing teeth. The cost of a crown or bridge depends on multiple factors like the type of dental bridge, the number of abutments, and the chosen material.

What are the various types of Dental Crowns?

Dental Crowns and Bridges can be made from different materials such as:

Metals:The metal crowns offer a long-term and durable solution for a missing or broken tooth. Crowns made from metals can withstand hard chewing and biting. They also do not wear down quickly. The only downside is that it hampers the appearance as it is visible from a distance and will be suitable only for the molars.

Porcelain-Fused-To-Metal: In this type of crown and bridge, the inside of the teeth is made of metal, and the outer portion of the crown is made of porcelain, which matches the color of the surrounding natural teeth. Such crowns offer you the double advantage of the metal providing the strength and the porcelain matching with the natural teeth' color.

Ceramic Crown:The ceramic crowns are the best option if you do not want metal inserted inside your mouth. They are healthy as well as blend more naturally with your tooth. It looks aesthetically pleasing and is the best option for front teeth.

What is General Dentistry?

General dentistry involves all the members of a family receiving dental care. At a routine visit to your family dentist, you will get a thorough examination, diagnosis, and treatment for all your oral health problems. A family dentist is similar to your family physician serving as primary care providers.

Some oral diseases and abnormalities indicate other health conditions. A general dentist will keep you updated on your health, suggest the right treatment and share the latest medical advancements. They also refer patients to a specialist for further treatment if needed and finally work together to achieve the satisfaction you are looking for to get the best oral health care.

What does General Dentistry include?

General dentistry involves the overall diagnosis of the patient. It includes evaluating, diagnosing, preventing, and treating oral disease, disorders of the oral cavity, maxillofacial area, and the associated structures. General hygienists treat patients within the scope of their area of expertise. In case a patient requires further treatments, they are referred to specialist doctors.

What procedures do general dentists perform?

General dentists provide affordable care that restores the teeth and gums and offers long-term support for your overall oral health. The main priority is enabling reasonable health care without causing a substantial monetary burden to the patient. Some of the procedures which are undertaken by your general dentist include the following:

  • Simple cosmetic procedures like whitening your teeth to get a sparkling smile.
  • If you are looking for a beautiful smile, you can undergo a smile makeover.
  • When a significant problem is diagnosed, your hygienist will ensure that you get timely and appropriate treatment.
  • They offer you detailed instructions to improve your at-home oral hygiene.
  • Regular examinations, including teeth cleanings and x-rays.
  • They also offer treatments for missing teeth, place crowns or bridgework.
  • General dentists also help you get fitted with a denture.
  • Advanced therapies like root canal therapy, orthodontics, and dental implants are also offered.
  • Oral screenings for cancer detection are done.

Emergency Dentistry

Emergency Dentists mostly deal with patients who have to be attended on an emergency basis and need immediate medical attention. Emergency Dentists provide primary medical care to the patients and relieve them from distress and pain. Their topmost priority will be to give you relief from pain.

What are some common Dental Emergencies?

The most common cause for dental emergencies arises from untreated cavities. The cavities start as a minor thing, but the hole will grow and cause more significant discomfort and pain if left untreated. If not attended to, the cavity will expand more in-depth into your tooth and cause damage to the pulp and weaken the enamel. The tooth could also break.

Another reason for dental emergencies is trauma caused by an athletic injury or automobile accident. During such incidents, the tooth might break, chip, or get knocked out. It is best to reach out to the emergency dentists and seek immediate medical help in such situations.

What should you do during some common dental emergencies?

Knocked - out tooth:

If you have a tooth knocked out, first pick it up by the top part, namely the crown, without touching the root. The tooth should be carefully rinsed without scrubbing. The tooth can be reinserted into the socket if it is possible. In case you cannot reinsert the tooth, place the tooth in a glass of milk and reach out to the dentist as quickly as possible. This might give you a greater chance of saving your tooth.

Chipped or Cracked Tooth:

Chipped teeth are usually not considered an emergency, but one has to be extra careful while eating to prevent the tooth from chipping further. On the other hand, a cracked or fractured tooth can cause concern as the damage can happen to the inside and outside of the tooth. A tooth cannot be saved if the fracture is too severe. In case you are suffering from too much pain, visit the dentist immediately. The dentist will take an X-ray to diagnose the extent of damage to the tooth and decide upon the further treatment course. If the root pulp is damaged, you may only need a root canal, or else a crown might be sufficient.

Dental Abscess:

An abscessed tooth can be a cause for a dental emergency. In this condition, a pocket of pus accumulates inside the tooth, causing an infection. An abscessed tooth can lead to tooth sensitivity to hot and cold foods, cause high fever, or a consistent toothache. If an abscessed tooth is left untreated on an emergency basis, the infection could spread into the jaw and other surrounding tissues. It could be treated with a combination of antibiotics, an extraction, or a root canal.

How can you prevent some dental emergencies?

Some of the dental emergencies can be prevented in the following ways:

  • While participating in sports or recreational activities, wear a custom-fitted athletic guard to protect your teeth. Mouthguards will protect your teeth from concussions as well as broken teeth.
  • It is best to avoid chewing ice and hard and crunchy foods.
  • Do not use your teeth to cut or tear things. While your teeth are strong and durable, they can easily chip or break if too much force is applied.
